Attributed to Jaffé as Roman and by Oberhuber as Maratti school. The style is not inconsistent with de' Pietri, these figures resembling those in a larger compositional study by him in Chicago. (Inv. no. 1972.323, repr. Joachim and McCullagh 1979, cat. no 93, pl. 100).
