Information and deadlines
The ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø±¬ÍøÕ¾ College Museum of Art offers faculty and students the unique opportunity to curate exhibitions using Museum collections. These faculty- and student-driven projects are installed in the Becker Gallery, a space that is designated for teaching exhibitions during the academic year. Curatorial staff from the BCMA support faculty and students throughout the process, resulting in focused exhibitions that enrich the academic life of the College.
Becker Gallery exhibitions generally run for six weeks. Faculty-curated exhibitions often include students enrolled in a course, who might be involved in selecting works, planning the layout, writing gallery texts, and generating public programs over the course of a semester. Faculty- and student-curated exhibitions generally require advance planning of several months. The BCMA curatorial team will consult and assist for the duration of the project.
The next DEADLINE for faculty- and student-led exhibitions proposals is Sunday, December 8, 2024. We are accepting applications for up to three exhibitions opening during the 2025–2026 academic year. Applicants will be notified of the outcome of their applications by early December. Those interested in submitting an application or learning more can contact Casey Mesick Braun, Curator, at c.braun@bowdoin.edu with any questions.
