Summer Grants
Overview
The study of the material and literary cultures of the ancient Mediterranean entails exposure to the archives, sites, and museums in this region and deep engagement with ancient languages.
The Department of Classics at ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø±¬ÍøÕ¾ actively encourages students to pursue their academic interests through programs available both in the United States and abroad during the summer months.
To that end, the Department seeks to offer modest financial support to students who might otherwise be unable to take advantage of these opportunities.
Upon their return from the program, students will be expected to provide a short written description of what they learned.
By noon on February 22, 2022, students should submit to the Classics department coordinator, Sandy Kauffman the following:
- Application: a one-page application letter that describes the program and how it will benefit the student’s academic goals.
- Budget: an estimated budget of expenses, including the cost of the program itself and the additional items, such as travel, food or lodging, that are not included in the program cost; applicants should include the sources of funding they have available beyond the amount of the grant itself.
- Letter of Support: A short letter of support from a Classics faculty member.
