Capitol Advisors is a political advocacy firm in Sacramento, California. Capitol Advisors’ main priority is securing better solutions for students and educators across California through the firm’s combined expertise in government relations and advocacy, state budget, and more.

As an intern, I was tasked with writing support and opposition letters for bills and testifying on behalf of clients at bill hearings. I also completed several projects including building fact sheets about California state legislators and helping onboard new clientele.

Through this internship, I had access to frequent networking opportunities through which I gained new knowledge about potential political careers. While working with partners at the firm and meeting their connections in California state politics, I was encouraged to leverage my interest in mathematics as I aspire towards a career in law or policy. My most valuable takeaway is a deeper understanding of how motives, money, and connections have strong political consequences and how to make effective political decisions. My favorite part of the experience was working for a group of people with a genuine interest in improving student lives and education.
