Re-enrollment from Medical Leave
Completing the process to re-enroll from medical leave by the appropriate deadline is an important step in demonstrating readiness to return to ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø±¬ÍøÕ¾. You must submit all re-enrollment materials before the following deadlines:
Semester of Desired Return:
Fall semester – May 15
Spring semester – November 15
If you believe you have an extenuating circumstance that impacts your ability to meet the deadlines above and would like to request an exception to the deadlines, please first submit your request and rationale for an exception to odos@bowdoin.edu. Please note that exceptions to the deadline are rare.
Steps to Return
There are three steps required for students requesting to re-enroll after medical leave. The tabs below outline the general requirements for each step. Students may receive additional, personalized instructions based on individual circumstances, and the Office of the Dean of Students will communicate any additional conditions in writing.
Checklist: Once You've Been Approved to Return
- Connect with your Academic Advisor to prepare for course registration during the re-enrolled students course registration period (January or August).
- Contact the Office of Residential Life to pursue on-campus housing. (The Office of Residential Life will make an effort to accommodate students returning from Medical Leave but cannot guarantee a space in the case of extraordinarily high demand.)
- Be in touch with the Office of Student Aid if you have received financial aid in the past.
- Contact the Office of the Dean of Students to obtain appropriate travel visa documents if you are an international student.
- Connect with the Student Accessibility Office if you have accessibility needs and wish to request accommodations.
- Set up an appointment with the Senior Associate Dean of Students and appropriate campus clinical director to discuss the Post-MLOA Care Plan.
- Contact the Mail Center to re-establish campus mail delivery.
