December Dance Concert
By ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø±¬ÍøÕ¾The 2022 December Dance Concert, one of ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø±¬ÍøÕ¾'s most anticipated events of the year, featured performances by three fall-semester dance classes, plus a dance choreographed by Dylan Richmond ’24.
The Department of Theater and Dance staged two concerts, on December 2 and December 3, at Pickard Theater in Memorial Hall.
In the Red
Senior Lecturer Gwyneth Jones kept up her long streak of choreographing striking and beautiful pieces with In the Red, performed by students in Dance 3212: Advanced Repertory and Performance Sara Coughlin ’26, Catherine Crouch ’23, Charlotte Doughty ’23, Molly Henderson ’23, Olivia Kenney ’25, Sam Koegler ’26, Ashley Morash ’26, Gabrielle Phillips ’24, Dylan Richmond ’24, Ally Savagian ’24, Lily Shelley-Kodroff ’26, Mia Vinding ’24, and Gabrielle Waller-Whelan ’25.
Simple. Headphone. Mind.
The next performance, Simple. Headphone. Mind, was an improvisation by students in the class Intermediate Improvisation and Partnering, taught by Aretha Aoki, associate professor of dance. Aoki created the score with students Francisco Adame Perez ’24, Cassidy Bateman ’24, Lia Busby ’25, Alexa Comess ’26, Molly Henderson ’23, Gerardo Hernandez ’23, Lia Kornmehl ’23, Isabel Petropoulos ’23, Brendan Ward ’22, and Piper Wilson ’26.

Survival
The final piece of the night was a crowd pleaser by students in Introduction to Modern Dance. Choreographed by Gwyneth Jones, Survival was performed by Maryam Akramova ’24, Zaynab Azzouzi ’25, Candice Ballarin ’25, Catherine Cao ’25, Sophie Cullen ’26, Julia DeLuca ’25, Reynaldo Fuentes ’26, Jeongdahl Lee ’26, Andy Lopez ’24, Sam Smith ’26, Hanna Wurdack ’25, Mingjie Yuan ’25, and Meg Zitzmann ’25.
