About

The exhibition presents a survey of the work of Luke DuBois, a New York based composer, computer programmer, filmmaker, and installation artist. Operating at the intersection of the visual, performative, and time-based arts, DuBois explores what it means to live in today’s data-saturated world of globalized information. The exhibition includes video, sound, and print-based works ranging from the late 1990s through today. Luke DuBois—Now was organized by the Ringling Museum of Art, Sarasota, Florida.

Jon Ippolito, co-founder of the University of Maine's New Media Department and Still Water, a new media research and development laboratory, and Richard Rinehart, director, Samek Art Museum, Bucknell University, discuss the work of artist R. Luke DuBois in the context of the broader history of new media art, addressing what it means, from philosophical and technical standpoints, to collect, exhibit, and preserve new media art today.  They are the co-authors of Re-collection: Art, New Media, and Social Memory (2014).
