“Bias” is a broad category of behaviors that can include discrimination, harassment, and other actions which demean or intimidate individuals or groups based upon personal characteristics, beliefs, or expression.
Some forms of bias, such as hate crimes, discrimination, and harassment are prohibited by law and/or College policy and may be actionable by the College. College policy prohibiting discrimination and harassment can be found in the Student Code of Community Standards, the Employee Handbook, and the Faculty Handbook.
Not all acts of bias violate law or College policy, but they may contribute to creating an intimidating, hostile or offensive environment for the individuals and groups affected. Community members are encouraged to report all acts of bias, discrimination and harassment so that ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø±¬ÍøÕ¾ can take appropriate action to help improve the campus climate.
