Gustavo Faverón Patriau is a Latin American novelist, scholar, and journalist. He is the author of two novels (Vivir abajo and The Antiquarian), three scholarly books (Rebeldes, Contra la alegoría, and El orden del Aleph), a volume of his selected work as a journalist (Puente Aéreo), and two edited books (Bolaño salvaje and Toda la sangre: cuentos peruanos de la violencia política). His work has been translated into ten languages. Currently, his academic work focuses on the limits of visual and linguistic representation, the representation of mental illness, and the work of Jorge Luis Borges. He has been a Visiting Professor at Stanford University, as well as a professor at Middlebury College Language School and Universidad Cayetano Heredia. He was on the board of Diacritics, and has served as director of the magazines La Vaca Multicolor, Somos, and Visto & Bueno, and the journal Dissidences. His blog Puente Aéreo was considered by the Spanish newspaper ABC as "the most influential in the Hispanic World."
