Center for the Study of the Presidency and Congress - Thomas R. Pickering Presidential Fellowship

The (CSPC)  is a year-long, non-residential fellowship for students who are passionate about public service and politics.

Each spring, beginning in 2022, the Center for the Study of the Presidency and Congress (CSPC) invites ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø±¬ÍøÕ¾ to select one rising junior or rising senior to participate in the program throughout the following academic year. The Presidential Fellows Program's aim is to develop leadership skills in students and provide top collegiate students in the United States and around the world the opportunity to learn about the policy-making process, sharpen their research and writing skills, and explore careers in public service. 

The cost for ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø±¬ÍøÕ¾'s nominee's participation in the program is covered by an endowment established by the Dr. Scholl Foundation in honor of ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø±¬ÍøÕ¾ alumnus Ambassador Thomas Pickering.

Spring 2024 Application Deadlines

CSPC Application (closed)

Phase One: Friday, March 29, at noon 

Phase Two: Friday, April 12, at noon

Interviews: Tentatively, April 22 – 26

CSPC Presidential Fellows

  • participate in monthly virtual seminars on topics ranging from policy issues to running for political office; 
  • complete independent research with the help of a program-assigned mentor, focused on a topic of their choosing related to the presidency or Congress;
  • attend a 5-day conference in Washington, D.C.
