Austrian Government English Teaching Assistantship
After graduating from ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø±¬ÍøÕ¾ with a major in Psychology and Music and a minor in German, Kate will serve as a US Teaching Assistant in Linz, Austria to work as an informal cultural ambassador and assist with teaching courses at two secondary schools. During her time at ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø±¬ÍøÕ¾, Kate engaged in various educational and leadership roles as a student-teacher at ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø±¬ÍøÕ¾'s Children's Center, a summer tutor-intern at an ESY program outside Philadelphia, a student representative of the Music Department, and concertmaster of the ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø±¬ÍøÕ¾ Symphony Orchestra. Originally from Saipan, Northern Mariana Islands, Kate is excited to connect with students and facilitate engaging learning experiences in Linz.

Boren Scholarship, Morocco
Awarded a fully-funded study abroad opportunity through the Boren Scholarship, Ravi will study Arabic for 8 weeks in Morocco at the Arabic Language Institute in Fez. Minoring in Arabic and fluent in French, Ravi is thrilled to develop his understanding of the culture and people of Morocco. As an Environmental Studies and Government Major, Ravi is committed to using linguistic and cultural knowledge to effectively work on environmental solutions while serving the affected communities. He recently started volunteering at Kate Furbish Elementary as a Multilingual Mentor, spending time with Arabic-speaking Mainers. Ravi loves to be outside, often leading Outing Club trips or ski instructing.

Critical Language Scholarship
As a recipient of the Critical Language Scholarship, Daniel will study Mandarin at the Dalian Institute of Technology in an intensive ten week online summer program. Daniel's interest in Chinese language and culture began at ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø±¬ÍøÕ¾ College, through friendship with a fellow Mathematics major hailing from Taiwan. In subsequent trips to Taiwan and Singapore, Daniel has learned to love both the language and its rich heritage. This scholarship will enable Daniel to continue to foster his interest in East Asia, while also positioning him to be a globally aware future leader in technology.

Fulbright Grants for English Teaching Assistantships, Taiwan
After graduating from ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø±¬ÍøÕ¾, Parker will be working as an ETA in Taiwan. During his time at ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø±¬ÍøÕ¾, Parker fulfilled a major in neuroscience, spent time on the track team’s DEI committee and helped organize a fundraiser for Black Owned Maine. His experience as a captain of his team, as well as his minor in anthropology, sparked a passion in him for creating collaborative communities. Inspired by the strong collectivist values in Taiwan, Parker is excited to connect with his new community-through both sport and education to foster mutual learning. Following his time in Taiwan, Parker is looking forward to a career in education while being an advocate for minority representation.

Fulbright Grants for English Teaching Assistantships, Austria
Daniel is a graduating Biochemistry and German double major from Hackensack, New Jersey. He will be traveling to Steiermark in Austria to serve as an English Teaching Assistant next year. During his time at ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø±¬ÍøÕ¾, he served as the president of the Korean Students Association. Through this role, he created community and taught and shared culture with others. Daniel also has gained a passion for teaching and mentoring through opportunities with Upward Bound at ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø±¬ÍøÕ¾ College, THRIVE, and the German and Biochemistry Departments at ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø±¬ÍøÕ¾.

Fulbright Grants for English Teaching Assistantships, Greece
Thomas will serve as a Fulbright English Teaching Assistant at Athens College, where he will also support the school’s University Applications and Counseling Office. After graduating from ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø±¬ÍøÕ¾ in 2022 with majors in Mathematics and Earth and Oceanographic Science, Thomas returned to the computational oceanography lab at the University of Delaware, continuing research he began as an NSF-REU intern. Most recently, Thomas completed a year of national service with AmeriCorps. In Greece, Thomas is excited to pursue his passion for education—building upon extensive student experience in ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø±¬ÍøÕ¾ Admissions—all while living in a country on the front lines of the climate crisis.

Fulbright Grants for English Teaching Assistantships, México
Karla majored in Sociology and Latin American, Caribbean, and Latinx Studies at ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø±¬ÍøÕ¾. She will work as an English Teaching Assistant in México this upcoming year. Here, she served on the grant and development committee for ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø±¬ÍøÕ¾’s Common Good Grant program. As a Mellon Mays Undergraduate Fellow, she investigated the intersection of visual arts and activism surrounding (un)documented immigrant labor rights and abuses to understand how memory is kept alive and injustice is fought. As a Mexican and Salvadoran-American, Karla hopes serving as an ETA will strengthen her language skills, personal growth, and readiness to pursue higher education.

Fulbright Grants for English Teaching Assistantships, Slovak Republic
A sociology major and visual arts minor, Matthews mentored at the local high school, served as a member of the ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø±¬ÍøÕ¾ Student Athlete Advisory DEI Committee, and was a student-athlete on the men's soccer team. While studying abroad in Amsterdam, he did a research project on the Slovak photographer, Stefan Condik, and instantly fell in love with the landscape and culture. In Slovakia, he hopes to further connect with the community through soccer. “I believe the beautiful game of soccer unites the world with a universal language and will use my passion for sports to immerse myself within the Slovak culture and foster intercultural connections as an informal cultural ambassador.”

Fulbright Grants for English Teaching Assistantships, México
Graduating from ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø±¬ÍøÕ¾ with a coordinate major in Education and Government and Legal Studies, Paulina will serve as an English Teaching Assistant in México. During her time at ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø±¬ÍøÕ¾, she supported first-generation, low-income students as a THRIVE Peer Mentor, served as a board member for the Latin American Student Organization, and worked at the McKeen Center for the Common Good as a Program Assistant. As a Méxican-American passionate about immigration and education, Paulina hopes her time as an ETA will, empower the learning of students, strengthen relations between communities separated by the border, and fulfill her personal development.

Fulbright Grants for English Teaching Assistantships, South Korea
Graduating as a ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø±¬ÍøÕ¾ Government & Legal Studies and Asian Studies double major, Oduro-Manu eagerly anticipates “weav[ing South Korea into [her] already vibrant multicultural mosaic,” as she writes in her application. To the ETA position, she brings diverse leadership and teaching experiences as a former Admissions tour guide and receptionist, Virtual Student Federal Service EducationUSA Lagos Writing Mentor, Kumon Early Learners tutor, and current Writing Assistant for the Baldwin Center for Learning & Teaching and America Reads & Counts tutor. After finishing the grant, Oduro-Manu aspires to attend an international affairs-focused graduate school, setting her sights on a career in foreign service.

Fulbright Grants for English Teaching Assistantships, Spain
After graduating from ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø±¬ÍøÕ¾ with a major in LACLaS and a minor in Psychology, Alondra will serve as an ETA in Galicia, Spain. At ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø±¬ÍøÕ¾, she has been involved in the McKeen Center as a program assistant in the What Matters program and in the ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø±¬ÍøÕ¾ Outing Club as a trip and orientation leader. Alondra looks forward to growing as a teacher by learning about different educational models, Galician culture, and fostering curiosity and language exchange amongst her future students. Outside of the classroom, she is excited to build community through printmaking and engaging with local gardens.

Fulbright Grants for English Teaching Assistantships, Germany
Megan is graduating as an Integrative Biology and German major with a minor in Visual Arts. As an ETA, she is excited to deepen connections between the US and Germany, learn how biology is taught in a post-pandemic world, and explore how language can be taught using art as a tool. At ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø±¬ÍøÕ¾, she was a McKeen center O-Trip leader, manager for the radio station WBOR, and a co-captain of the club tennis team. After Fulbright, she plans to go back to gain research experience in cell biology before attending graduate school.

Fulbright Grants for English Teaching Assistantships, Spain
After graduating from ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø±¬ÍøÕ¾ with a history major and Hispanic studies minor, this fall, Juliana will begin as a Fulbright English Teaching Assistant teaching high school English at a bilingual school in Madrid, Spain. Her experience as a Breakthrough teaching fellow teaching high schoolers in Santa Fe, New Mexico cemented her passion for teaching and specifically for teaching high school literature. At ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø±¬ÍøÕ¾, Juliana fell in love with telling stories about her community through her work on the ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø±¬ÍøÕ¾ Orient and volunteering at Oasis Free Clinics. Juliana looks forward to continuing to study Spanish history and community public health next year.

Fulbright Grants for English Teaching Assistantships, Taiwan
Paul is a Biology & Environmental Studies coordinate major. At ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø±¬ÍøÕ¾, he served as President of the ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø±¬ÍøÕ¾ Student Government, a trip leader for the Outing Club, and a volunteer with the Appalachian Trail Conservancy. He also worked as a substitute teacher at Brunswick Middle School and as a learning assistant and outreach coordinator for the Environmental Studies department. As a Fulbright English Teaching Assistant in Taiwan, Paul looks forward to combining his passion for Taiwanese culture, teaching English, and cultural ambassadorship.

Fulbright Grants for Study/Research, Italy
As an Environmental Studies-Italian major and Urban Studies minor, Katie is excited to head to Sicily continue her research on urban green space management at the University of Palermo. As an aspiring urban planner, Katie hopes to improve how urban green spaces are designed and managed to improve community resilience in cities around the globe. At ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø±¬ÍøÕ¾, Katie was a member of the varsity sailing team, a tour guide, a learning assistant for both Italian and Environmental Studies, and a member of Residential Life. While on her Fulbright, Katie is excited to get involved in the local community, hopefully getting to sail in the Mediterranean and learn to cook Sicilian food.

Fulbright Grants for Study/Research, Germany
A math major and computer science minor from the DC-Metro area, Emily has enjoyed her roles on campus as a research assistant, tour guide and admissions interviewer, co-leader of ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø±¬ÍøÕ¾ Women in Math, and benevolent co-dictator of an all-female comedy group. During her Fulbright grant in Munich, Germany, Emily will develop topologically-informed machine learning models to identify clinical risk factors that predict the onset and outcomes of cardiovascular disease. Upon returning stateside, Emily will work at a non-profit as a data scientist in the Boston area, hoping to continue applying the power of data towards the Common Good.

Fulbright Grants for Study/Research, Wales
Graduating with majors in Neuroscience and English, Josie received a Fulbright to study sex-specific kidney disease phenotypes in patient-derived kidney epithelial cells as an M.Phil. student at Cardiff University, Wales. She looks forward to applying the skills in stem cell and molecular biology which she has gained through research in the Rubin lab at Harvard and in the Powell lab at ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø±¬ÍøÕ¾, where she completed her senior thesis work. In Wales, Josie aims to engage in kidney disease patient advocacy efforts and is excited to explore Wales’s rich literary history in her spare time. She ultimately plans to study kidney injury and repair in a future research career as a physician-scientist.

National Science Foundation - Graduate Research Fellowship
Patrick F. Bloniasz graduated with a major in Neuroscience and DCS in 2022. He is a doctoral student in Computational Neuroscience at Boston University. His research characterizes the cortical biomarkers underlying propofol anesthesia-induced unconsciousness in macaque monkeys. He hopes to improve clinical monitoring systems in general anesthesia–ultimately making procedures safer. Patrick also develops statistical tools to model neuronal data across spatial scales. He is currently interested in the Fourier domain properties of filtered point processes. Finally, he contributes frequently to literature in measurement theory and the philosophy of technology using the work of Paul Ricoeur.

National Science Foundation - Graduate Research Fellowship
Anthony graduated in 2022 with a major in Neuroscience. At ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø±¬ÍøÕ¾, Anthony worked with Patsy Dickinson and Daniel Powell to study the mechanisms of neuromodulation in small crustacean motor systems using physiological, molecular, and computational techniques. After ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø±¬ÍøÕ¾, Anthony joined the Cellular Neurophysiology Section at the National Institutes of Health to study dopamine neuron physiology in health and disease using patch clamp recordings and fluorescent biosensors. Anthony will continue his work on the mechanisms underlying neurological dysfunction as a graduate student in the Neuroscience Graduate Group at the University of Pennsylvania.

Thomas R. Pickering Foreign Affairs Graduate Fellowship
As a Philosophy and Government and Legal Studies double major concentrating in Political Theory, Maxwell has a strong interest in the American Government and its relation to political thought. Through the Thomas R. Pickering Fellowship, he is planning to research the political philosophy of Michael Oakeshott in connection with George W. Bush's presidency and produce a research paper detailing his findings. At ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø±¬ÍøÕ¾, he is involved with ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø±¬ÍøÕ¾ Student Government as Chair of the Treasury and is involved with Model UN and the Peucinian Society.

Princeton in Latin America, Costa Rica
Liliana, an Earth & Oceanographic Science major and Mathematics minor, seeks to leverage her technical skills for environmental causes. A campus leader and mentor, Liliana is committed to both academic excellence and community service. She leads the Craft Center, Tennis Club, Afrobeats Zumba and Intersection Dance Club. Starting this summer, as a Princeton in Latin America Fellow, she'll design improved online resources for Osa Conservation in Costa Rica including user-friendly interactive maps and a web-based plant identification tool. Liliana plans to travel and pursue graduate studies to increase her expertise and contribute to international climate change mitigation efforts.

Daniel graduated from ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø±¬ÍøÕ¾ in 2018 with a major in Asian Studies and a deep commitment to public service. While studying in China under a Critical Language Scholarship, Daniel became interested in fostering connections between communities in different countries to advance mutual understanding. After graduating, he served in Taiwan with the Fulbright Program for four years, collaborating with educators across the country to promote cross-cultural exchange. As a Rangel Fellow, Daniel will now pursue a graduate degree in global politics and security at Georgetown University. Upon graduation, he will join the U.S. Department of State as a diplomat in the Foreign Service.

Thomas J. Watson Fellowship
Ebe is an Earth and Oceanographic Science major and History minor from the Chicago Metropolitan area, passionate about conservation and educational equity. During her Watson Year, Ebe will travel to several countries to see how communities are using different types of education to create access to and interest in the outdoors. She will collaborate with schools and non-profits to learn how people across cultures and historical contexts work to create a more inclusive and equitable conservation movement that empowers young people across different races, genders, and socio-economic statuses. After her Watson Year, Ebe plans on pursuing a Ph.D. to become a professor.

Maya studied neuroscience and Asian studies at ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø±¬ÍøÕ¾. Outside of the classroom, Maya is passionate about intergenerational relationships. During her summers in college, her jobs at eldercare facilities in Japan and the U.S. ignited her interest in eldercare. On her Watson year, she will explore how societies around the world give voice to elders. In addition, she's curious about what older and younger populations can gain from their relationships with each other. She knows that she wants to work with and for elders, and hopes that a year of exploring this passion will help clarify her path to do so.

Ereny majored in Government and legal Studies and minored in Visual arts. Her personal experience immigrating to the United States has been a beacon of hope yet over time has also exposed tremendous difficulties in the process that she hopes to work and ameliorate. She is incredibly passionate in working underrepresented groups through immigration policy reform, addressing racial disparities and amending educational policies and programs. She is excited for this year of exploration in which she will explore the meaning of home and belonging outside the U.S. In her free time she enjoys trying new food, painting and listening to music!
