In 2024, we awarded grants to nine organizations doing important work in Maine communities:  

Mano en Mano has focused on supporting immigrant and farmworker communities in Maine since its establishment in 2005. The organization aims to create opportunities and improve access to essential services, addressing challenges faced by these communities through programs in housing, education, health, and advocacy. Mano en Mano strives to build an inclusive community where everyone can thrive, regardless of background or language.

IFKA Community Services empowers immigrant women and families in Lewiston, Maine, through support, connection, and advocacy. Founded by immigrant mothers, IFKA (meaning "Mother Earth" in Somali) provides a welcoming community to ease the challenges of adjusting to a new country. Their programs focus on emotional and mental well-being, drawing from the founders' own experiences as immigrants.

Growing to Give is a nonprofit farm in Brunswick, Maine, dedicated to growing organic produce for people facing food insecurity. Established in 2017, the farm donates fresh vegetables to local food pantries and meal programs, helping to improve access to healthy food for those in need. Through sustainable farming practices and community volunteer support, Growing to Give strives to make a positive impact on food security in the region.

Tedford Housing provides safe and supportive housing and shelter for individuals and families experiencing homelessness in the greater Brunswick area. Founded with a mission to end homelessness, Tedford offers emergency shelter, permanent housing solutions, and supportive services to help individuals transition to stable, independent living. Through community partnerships and advocacy, Tedford Housing is dedicated to creating pathways out of homelessness and strengthening the community.

Sunlight Media Collective is a group of Indigenous and non-Indigenous journalists, filmmakers, and activists committed to documenting and sharing stories on environmental and social justice issues in Maine. Focused on amplifying Wabanaki voices, the collective creates media that raises awareness about Indigenous rights, land protection, and environmental stewardship. Through films, articles, and community projects, Sunlight Media Collective promotes justice and fosters a deeper understanding of the challenges facing Indigenous communities.

Greater Portland Family Promise partners with local congregations and community volunteers to provide temporary shelter, meals, and support to families experiencing homelessness in the Portland area. With a focus on stabilizing families and finding long-term housing solutions, the organization ensures that children and their parents have a safe and supportive environment during difficult times.

Youth Led Justice empowers Maine youth by supporting peer-led restorative justice practices. The organization provides young people with an alternative to traditional disciplinary actions, allowing them to take accountability in a constructive way, promote healing, and make positive contributions to their communities.

Oasis Free Clinics offers free medical, dental, and prescription services to uninsured adults in Brunswick, Maine, and surrounding areas. Committed to removing barriers to healthcare, Oasis provides compassionate care to improve the health and well-being of those who might otherwise go without necessary services.

Food for All Services provides culturally relevant food and goods to Maine's African immigrant communities, addressing food access and supporting local economies. The market offers a range of products reflecting the tastes and needs of African and immigrant families, ensuring access to familiar, nutritious foods. Through community-driven efforts, Food for All Services African Market promotes food security and celebrates cultural heritage.
